Locked On Bulls joined by Darnell Mayberry from The Athletic - Locked On Bulls

Locked On Bulls is back with a fresh episode, the guys are joined by recurring guest of the show Darnell Mayberry who is a Senior Writer covering the Chicago Bulls for The Athletic.

The guys start with his most recent article about the rapidly approaching trade deadline and the Chicago Bulls decisions to be made. Besides just expiring contracts like Robin Lopez or non-guaranteed deals like Jabari Parker, will the Bulls look to move a player like Kris Dunn at the deadline? Have the Bulls fielded calls about Bobby Portis, who turned down an extension at the beginning of the season in order to bet on himself in restricted free agency in the summer of 2019.

The guys get into the battle of comments between Zach LaVine and Jim Boylen over the past few weeks and how it’s been reciprocated among fans and personnel around the NBA. Darnell explains from his point of view how LaVine is feeling about the direction of this team, why his voice is important even if his play on the floor has regressed, what the vibe is among players in the locker room, and if he expects anything to change in the final 34 games of the season.

The guys get into his long-form sit down with Bulls rising start Lauri Markkanen in which it was an opportunity to get a closer look at the No. 7 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. How has Markkanen been dealing with this roller coaster season? Does Markkanen have a personality hidden inside of him that is yet to be revealed to the masses?

The guys also talk about Darnell’s piece on former Bulls point guard Cameron Payne and how it may or may not change the perspective has on the way fans treat players here in Chicago. Mayberry offers his perspective on the pressure it takes to play in this city and the guys offer their opinions on why Payne may have been the punching bag for the frustration that wasn’t necessarily all Payne’s doing. The guys also talk about Jim Boylen wanting players to hold themselves accountable but if he is taking any accountability himself? All of this and so much more on Locked On Bulls.

Jordan Maly is the host of Locked On Bulls, he's a native of Naperville, IL and graduated from Indiana University - Bloomington. Bulls crawling to the finish line as injuries, losses pile up - Locked On Bulls

Locked On Bulls is back with a fresh episode, the guys recap last night’s loss to the Toronto Raptors without Zach LaVine, Otto Porter Jr., and Kris Dunn. The guys spend the second half of the show taking mailbag questions, texts, tweets, and voicemails in their weekly episode of Locked On Bulls mailbag.

Some of the topics include whether the Bulls will look to draft a big man in the second round, some prospects available, would they take the risk on Bol Bol if he slides to the end of the first-early second round, and a scenario of trading up with the Atlanta Hawks for the No. 2 pick.

The guys talk about last night’s game with the idea that LaVine, Porter, and Dunn were out and the Bulls only dressed nine players. Lauri Markkanen only played 16 minutes in the game and left with ‘illness’ in the third quarter. Should the Bulls think about shutting him down for the rest of the season?

The guys talk about the time he did spend on the floor last night and how he was more aggressive but just missing shots. The guys also mention how the Raptors seem to be walking through this game as told by the final score, they mention the final 90 seconds and give props to Shaq Harrison and Wayne Selden Jr.

Should the Bulls be looking to draft a backup big man with their recently acquired second-round pick in the upcoming draft? Would you take the risk on NBA prospect Bol Bol if he started to slide to the end of the first round? What would it take to trade up from pick No. 4 to No. 2? All of these voicemails are answered and so much more on today’s episode of Locked On Bulls.
