The Bulls gave Jim Boylen a raise but this is not an extension - Locked On Bulls

Locked On Bulls is back from the weekend with a fresh episode, the guys kick off the show with news of the weekend about the restructuring of Bulls head coach Jim Boylen’s contract. The guys discuss the details and explain why this should come at no surprise to anyone.

Jim Boylen was previously under contract as associate head coach of the Bulls until the end of the 2019-2020 season, therefore not making this new deal a contract extension for Boylen. The guys discuss the deal and how it leaves the Bulls a window open to run a coaching search in the summer if the Bulls do not see Boylen as the fit. The guys discuss the timing of the report, mere hours after the Bulls 37-point loss to the Warriors and their sixth in a row.

Locked On Bulls breaks down the Bulls loss to the Warriors on Friday and the significance of the two-game series between the two teams this season. The guys discuss some interesting historical statistics between these two teams, how Boylen experimented with Lauri Markkanen at small forward, and Bobby Portis claims Kevin Durant tried to intentionally injure him.

The guys wrap up the show with Utah Jazz loss on Saturday night. The emergence of Jabari Parker, was this a showcase for the Jazz front office as potential trade destination? The guys discuss theory, although Bobby Portis did not play and was the reason given by Boylen for Parker’s role. The guys update you on Justin Holiday’s awful start in Memphis and so much more on Locked On Bulls.

Bulls crawling to the finish line as injuries, losses pile up - Locked On Bulls

Locked On Bulls is back with a fresh episode, the guys recap last night’s loss to the Toronto Raptors without Zach LaVine, Otto Porter Jr., and Kris Dunn. The guys spend the second half of the show taking mailbag questions, texts, tweets, and voicemails in their weekly episode of Locked On Bulls mailbag.

Some of the topics include whether the Bulls will look to draft a big man in the second round, some prospects available, would they take the risk on Bol Bol if he slides to the end of the first-early second round, and a scenario of trading up with the Atlanta Hawks for the No. 2 pick.

The guys talk about last night’s game with the idea that LaVine, Porter, and Dunn were out and the Bulls only dressed nine players. Lauri Markkanen only played 16 minutes in the game and left with ‘illness’ in the third quarter. Should the Bulls think about shutting him down for the rest of the season?

The guys talk about the time he did spend on the floor last night and how he was more aggressive but just missing shots. The guys also mention how the Raptors seem to be walking through this game as told by the final score, they mention the final 90 seconds and give props to Shaq Harrison and Wayne Selden Jr.

Should the Bulls be looking to draft a backup big man with their recently acquired second-round pick in the upcoming draft? Would you take the risk on NBA prospect Bol Bol if he started to slide to the end of the first round? What would it take to trade up from pick No. 4 to No. 2? All of these voicemails are answered and so much more on today’s episode of Locked On Bulls.
